Theological rock-paper-scissors nobody asked for.

The meme uses the classic Good Place reaction format to compare how three major religions describe each other in their holy books. On the Turkish/Islamic side: the Quran has plenty to say about Christians and Jews (“People of the Book” — sometimes respectful, often critical). On the Judeo-Christian side: the Bible and Tanakh don’t mention Turks at all, because the Turkic peoples migrated into Anatolia centuries after the biblical canon was closed.

The result is a devastatingly awkward theological conversation. One side has a whole chapter on why the other side is wrong. The other side says “…who?”

The Ottoman Empire spent centuries being the center of the Islamic world, fighting Crusaders, conquering Constantinople, and making Europe very nervous. And the Bible just completely skipped them. It’s the theological equivalent of showing up to a party and finding out nobody put you on the guest list. That said, the whole “our book says terrible things about you / our book doesn’t mention you at all” dynamic? That’s the most efficient summary of inter-Abrahamic relations I’ve ever seen in four panels.
