A Twitter/X post by Savvas Vlassis highlights a group of Cretan resistance fighters — among them, the unknown fighter on the left who looks strikingly like Brad Pitt, earning him the nickname “Bratt Pitt” from the internet.
Gorgocutie says:
The Battle of Crete (May 1941) was one of the most brutal campaigns of WWII. The Nazis invaded the island by air — the first airborne invasion in history — and the local population fought back with whatever they had: hunting rifles, ancient muskets, farming tools, kitchen knives. The Cretan resistance was legendary for its ferocity. The Germans reportedly feared Cretan fighters so much that they imposed brutal reprisals, burning entire villages (Kondomari, Kandanos, Anogeia).
But somewhere in that chaos, there was a guy who looked like he walked out of a Hollywood casting call. You can’t convince me the casting director for “The Lost City of Z” or “Fury” didn’t have this photo pinned to their mood board. The man on the left has the jawline, the cheekbones, the thousand-yard resistance stare — it’s Brad Pitt born 40 years too early, fighting Nazis in Greek leather and wool.
The 2.3K likes on this tweet prove that even 85 years later, the internet’s priorities remain unchanged: honor the heroes, but absolutely roast the one who looks like a movie star.
