A Twitter post from the account *ShANIQUIFieR presents “Helen of Troy” — reimagined for modern audiences.
Gorgocutie says:
Helen of Troy. The face that launched a thousand ships. The most beautiful woman in the ancient world. Daughter of Zeus. Queen of Sparta. And now, apparently, a character from a modern video game with a gun.
This is what happens when people can’t leave classical figures alone. Instead of telling stories about the actual Helen — a woman whose abduction (or elopement, depending on the source) sparked the Trojan War, the greatest conflict of the Bronze Age — we get an anachronistic mess with a firearm that wouldn’t exist for another 3,000 years.
The ancient Greeks didn’t need to modernize their heroes to make them compelling. Achilles didn’t need a gun. Odysseus didn’t need an AR-15 to outsmart the Cyclops. Helen didn’t need to dual-wield to be the woman whose beauty could launch a thousand ships.
But here we are. 2026. Helen of Troy with a gun. Peak artistic integrity.
