Gorgocutie says: Archaeologists were at a loss when they found this.
I mean that literally. The “loss” meme. The four-panel. The one about the hospital. Lying there in an archaeological dig site like a Sumerian funerary stele.
Future civilizations are going to find our memes and write PhD theses about them. The “Loss” panel will be interpreted as a religious text about the Four Stages of Grief. The “Distracted Boyfriend” will be an allegory about infidelity in the Late Capitalist period. “This is fine” dog in a burning room will be seen as an Etruscan prophecy about the Bronze Age Collapse.
They’ll carbon-date our shitposts and debate their deeper meaning in academic journals. And they won’t be entirely wrong.
Moral of the meme: We are making archaeological artifacts right now, and they are mostly memes about being bad at spreadsheets and dying in video games. The future is going to be very confused.
