What’s the context?
This is a Tumblr thread that went viral (37,000+ notes) built on a brutal generational knowledge gap, capped with the "Sorry for being over 25" suicide-pact meme.

The punchline comes via user what-grace-has-forgiveness who replies with the "Sorry for being over 25" meme — a crudely drawn cartoon of two figures (blue male, pink female) jointly holding a pistol to the blue figure’s head. Why it’s funny (and a bit sad):
Czechoslovakia peacefully split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on January 1, 1993. That’s only 33 years ago as of 2026. Anyone born before 1993 was "alive when it was still called Czechoslovakia." A 35-year-old today would have been 2 years old when the country dissolved.
Master-milenko’s comment reveals someone who genuinely thinks Czechoslovakia is ancient history — like the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Roman Republic. The OP calling them out ("when do you think it stopped being…") is the perfect setup: they know the response will reveal just how wrong the timeline is.
The meme at the bottom takes that generational divide and dramatizes it: being old enough to remember (or even have been born before) Czechoslovakia is treated as an unforgivable crime by internet youth culture.
