The Double Standard of Fantasy Armor

Comic about armor double standard
The eternal debate: boob armor bad, Mandalorian armor good.

The comic nails a specific kind of internet hypocrisy. On one side, you have the “boob armor” critique — fantasy armor with visible breast sculpting, called out as impractical, unrealistic, and sexist. Fair enough, armor shouldn’t have anatomical detailing that deflects blades toward the sternum.

On the other side: Mandalorian armor from Star Wars. Full chest plate with sculpted pectoral contours, equally impractical, zero complaints. “Nice armor bro.”

The difference? One is worn by women, the other by helmeted space warriors coded as male. The same stylized design choice gets opposite reactions based entirely on who wears it.

Gorgocutie’s Verdict:

This is the “fantasy vs. sci-fi” double standard in a nutshell. Real historical armor didn’t have sculpted pecs OR breasts — it was smooth, curved, and designed to deflect blows. Both boob plate and Mandalorian beskar’gam are equally “unrealistic” — they just serve different aesthetics. The honest take: both are cool. Or neither is. Pick a lane.

Either way, accusing one of being sexist while praising the other is just selective outrage. And this comic knows it.
