The beautiful painting of John William Godward, ‘In the Days of Sappho’ (1904), is now adorn a Serving area interface in Thessaloniki, Greece, after the initiative of the municipal authority of the city.
You can find it in the wonderful parks of Nea Paralia (new waterfront), in front of the Alexander the Great’s statue. After the transformation of the old waterfront the entire area became a favorite destination for both locals and visitors. The project received many architectural awards and is considered one of the most successfull examples concerning the use of public space. This small architectural and aesthetic miracle created a single, unified waterfront that is harmonically incorporated into Thessaloniki’s urban web!
